Today is Jan. 28, 2011. We have been off the big farm for one year today.
I have been fondly remembering our 5 years on this beautiful farm, and and all the joys and adventures and all the work we had here. I have also been guilty of grieving about our leaving here, and had to do some reminiscing through pictures to heal my hurting heart.
I know living here was an act of our loving God. I know leaving here was also an act of our loving God, but I have lamented the loss of the huge house, the beautiful, huge yard, the lovely woods, and all the space there.
I do not regret living here, nor do I regret moving, as I know the work load for our family was overwhelming and exhausting. But I am human, and I do miss the physical comforts of this farm.
But I celebrate Brian and Jaime's one year anniversary. They are doing a wonderful job, and love the place as much as we did. That had been our prayer when we were trying to sell, that someone would find it who loved it as we did. I could not have handpicked better buyers/friends/now employers!

Oh Chris. Oh my heavens. Looking at these photos, I can see why you would miss this "paradise" so much. I see how your family, home, play, and work were all tied together to that home and land. The animals. All of those delicious canned goods! The outdoors! All that ROOM! However, I can totally understand what a job it would be to maintain living on a farm like that. Unbelievably hard work. Enjoy the memories, grieve them, and be blessed in the future God has in store.
Chris, what a huge operation! I had no idea it was so big!! I am astounded at the amount of canning you did too. I hope your new farm is able to bring you just as much joy - and a lot less work!

I have truly enjoyed reading your last two 'epic' posts - such wonderful pictures and memories! I so love getting a glimpse at life with your beautiful family.
As a suburban girl with no experience in canning, let me say that I am in awe of your work!
So glad that you can see God's hand throughout the past year. He is amazing - I know that even when we feel distant and are wandering in the 'fog,' He is faithful and constant. I pray that you have a blessed new year full of more special memories!
